Amber Flag Award & our Calm Cove Officially Opens

We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Amber Flag for promoting positive mental health in our school and community. Well done to our Amber Committee who have led the initiative this year guided by Ms Cremins.
Rory O'Connor, from Rory's Stories, a great advocate for mental health raised our flag on Tuesday 28th of June. He spoke of his own experience in school and the importance of talking about our feelings and mental health.
Rory also officially opened our sensory room, the Calm Cove. He commented on how this space will be a support to all children in our school. A special day was had by all in Curragha. Press play to see our Amber Flag video.

Catholic Schools Week 2022

Friday
As Catholic Schools Week comes to a close, we are asked to think about how we live life to the full and face the future. The COVID-19 pandemic brought so many changes and challenges to our lives. As we reflect on this, we look forward with hope to the future. While we have come through these dark days, through Jesus’ death and resurrection we are reminded that even the darkest days give way to the dawn. Together, as a community that is kind and cares for each other, we look to the future with the hope and the joy of the resurrection. Lord, help us to live like you taught us to. Together we pray the prayer that Jesus taught us: Our Father …

Prayer for Grandparents on Wednesday
Lord Jesus, you were born of the Virgin Mary, the daughter of Saints Joachim and Anne.
Look with love on grandparents the world over. Protect them!
They are a source of enrichment for families, for the Church and for all of society. Support them!
As they grow older, may they continue to be for their families strong pillars of Gospel faith,
guardians of noble domestic ideals, living treasuries of sound religious traditions.
Make them teachers of wisdom and courage, that they may pass on to future generations the fruits of their mature human and spiritual experience. Amen.

Feast of St. Andrew - 30th of November

We attended Mass for the Feast of St. Andrew on 30th of November. Thank you to Fr. Kevin who told us all about the Patron Saint of Curragha. Robyn & Noah from Junior Infants lit the Advent Candle. Girls & boys from 5th and 6th class did readings and prayers of the faithful.

Hymn to St. Andrew
Jesus calls us; o'er the tumult
Of our life's wild, restless sea,
Day by day His sweet voice sounding,
Saying, "Christian, follow Me."

As of old Saint Andrew heard it.
By the Galilean lake,
Turned from home and toil and kindred,
Leaving all for His dear sake.

In our joys, and in our sorrows,
Days of toil, and hours of ease,
Still He calls, in cares and pleasures,
That we love Him more than these.

Jesus calls us by Thy mercies,
Saviour, may we hear Thy call;
Give our hearts to your obedience,
Serve and love you best of all.
