St. Andrew's N.S. Student Council
A Student Council gives pupils a voice in school life, helping them take an active part in decisions that affect them. It promotes democracy, inclusion, and shared responsibility, and helps pupils learn important life skills such as communication, teamwork, and leadership.

October Meeting
Our Student Council met with Ms O’Connor to discuss the role of the Council in our school community. We brainstormed in two groups led by Avril and Katie. We agreed on 5 ways in which we can represent our student body as well as support Ms O’Connor and the staff of St. Andrew’s.
Aims of the Student Council
- To represent the views and interests of all students.
- To improve communication between pupils, teachers, and school management.
- To contribute to school policies and initiatives
- To promote a sense of belonging and respect within the school community.
- To encourage active citizenship, leadership, and responsibility among pupils.
Membership
- Members submitted an application letter to the Principal Ms. Connor
- Includes representatives from 4th to 6th class
- Two 6th class students take on the role of Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson.
- The Student Council will meet with Ms O’Connor once a month.

- Voice: The Student Council provides an opportunity for students to voice their opinions and offer suggestions in relation to many aspects of life at St. Andrew’s. We will introduce a suggestion box for all pupils to use to share ideas and suggestions.
- Issues: The Student Council will discuss issues relevant to the school and encourage and promote initiatives from the pupils.
- Changes: The Student Council will voice opinions of all students on proposed changes in the school.
- Communication: The Student Council will communicate with pupils, teachers, parents and Ms O’Connor, our Principal.
- Organise: The Student Council will help Ms O’Connor and the teachers organise school events. We will liaise with other committees in the school and support them if needed.
