Amber Flag Award & our Calm Cove Officially Opens
We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Amber Flag for promoting positive mental health in our school and community. Well done to our Amber Committee who have led the initiative this year guided by Ms Cremins.
Rory O'Connor, from Rory's Stories, a great advocate for mental health raised our flag on Tuesday 28th of June. He spoke of his own experience in school and the importance of talking about our feelings and mental health.
Rory also officially opened our sensory room, the Calm Cove. He commented on how this space will be a support to all children in our school. A special day was had by all in Curragha. Press play to see our Amber Flag video.

Well-Being Week
This year we have been working on our Amber Flag application. The Amber Flag initiative recognises the efforts of schools to create healthy, inclusive environments that support mental well-being. To complete our application, we are having a Well-Being Week in school from 23rd – 27th of May.
This week in school we celebrated health and wellbeing. We practised relaxation breathing and stretching. We designed posters to remind us to be kind, we wore clothes inside out to help us remember that we never know how somebody feels inside, we wrote little notes to remind ourselves of all the wonderful things we are grateful for. Fr. Kevin came into school to play football with us ..... and on Friday - just to make us all feel HAPPY we met Ciara and Caoimhe's dog Twiggy's litter of 11 puppies!!!!
