The Christmas concert

An article by Grace O’Dowd, 3rd class

Picture
We had our Christmas play on a cold Wednesday last December  on the same day as we got our school holidays. It was a great play and very exciting for us because our parents came to watch. The whole concert took place in the school hall which was decorated with a lovely Christmas theme. The start of the entertainment began with the junior and senior infants doing the story of Christmas, the Nativity when the baby Jesus was born. First and second came next with their interpretation of the birth of the baby Jesus. Then it was our turn and we did a play about the meaning of Christmas and it was based around a story of the elves and the work they had to do to get Christmas up and running by making magic potion called “The super magic top-up cream” to make the reindeer super energetic to fly around the world in one night. I was an elf and my role was to pack the presents ready for the big night. After that we played some carols on our recorders and up next the fifth and sixth class doing “Hosanna Rock” a modern take on the nativity. The grand finale was all the school singing Christmas songs. My Mum said it was a great afternoon and it not only got her into the Christmas cheer but it also verified for her the true meaning of Christmas. The whole day ended with Ms. Darby announcing that due to the snow we were starting our holidays a day earlier. What a lovely present from our principal!!
