Sports Day 2016
An article by Ben Ronan
4th Class

Picture
Sports Day took place on Tuesday, June 19th 2016. I was on the Red Team with Ms. McLarnon. The other teams were:

1: Blue Team (Ms. Ronan)
2: White Team (Mr. Brennan)
3: Green Team (Ms. Brogan)
4: Black Team (David)
5: Yellow Team (Ms. Horgan)

When I was on the Black Team with David 2 years ago we won so I was hoping that I could win again with the Red Team. In the end we came second with  Ms.Ronan's Blue Team winning. In the morning we did stations which were skipping, penalty kicks, fish in the pond, sport and games quiz, ball throw and the loop run. After break we played games against other teams. This was my favourite section I would say because there was more running involved and it was more competitive. Finally we had the class races. I came second in the sprints and our team won the Senior Relay. At the end of the day we bought ice-cream in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland while we waited for the results. Lorna finally gave the placings of each team. At first the points were mixed up and we thought we came fourth but in the end we actually came second. I had a lot of fun and I can't wait until next year for a victory!!!!

Graduation 2016
An article by Gracie Allen
6th Class

Picture
The 6th class graduation took place on the 29th of June. We celebrated our graduation from St.Andrews in two parts. The first part of our graduation took place in the church. We all had something to do in the mass like read, sing, bring up the gifts or play a piece of music on our instrument. After the mass we went to the school hall for the second part of our graduation. We were called in one by one to take our seat. After we were all called we each spoke about our favourite memories of St.Andrews. Once we had finished saying our favourite memories we played our bodhran piece that we had worked very hard on. When we finished our bodhran piece we performed a drama that we had written ourselves called ‘Memories’. The drama included some of our favourite memories of our time in St.Andrews. When our Drama was over all of 5th and 6th class sang the song ‘When I Grow Up’ from the musical Matilda. When we finished singing we went outside with our balloons. We had put a piece of paper on them with our hopes and dreams for the future. We released our balloons into the air after the countdown. I think I can say that we will all miss St. Andrews and enjoyed our time there, but we are very excited to start a new school!
