A visit by the Community Garda

On Monday the 4th of February a garda came to visit our school. She brought in handcuffs, an asp (which is a weapon), and pepper spray, She showed us how the handcuffs, asp and pepper spray worked. She put the handcuffs on me and locked them. Then she showed us that you hit the asp against the floor to make it come out. She said that the pepper spray burns your eyes when you spray it.  She said that gardaí have to pepper spray themselves during training to see how painful it is.

She talked to us about wearing your seat belt and asked us to be seatbelt sheriffs which means always wearing your own seatbelt and checking others to see if they are wearing theirs. It was good to see the work of a garda!!
