FIRST HOLY COMMUNION 2012
An article by Oisín Fay - 4th class

The First Holy Communion was on Saturday 19th May 2012. The were eleven children making their communion this year, Charlotte, Amelia, Gracie, Jenny, Eimear, Jake, Daniel, Matthew, Tadgh , Daigh and Paul. Ms Gilligan was the teacher preparing the children for Holy Communion with the help of Christine. Each person had a row reserved for them and their family in the church.

The mass started at 11 o’clock with Fr. Phil in charge. All the children were involved throughout the Mass, doing the reading, prayers of the faithful, bringing up the gifts, and the prayers before and after communion. The school choir led by Mrs Horgan provided the beautiful music.

After the mass everyone went over to the parish hall where there were tables with biscuits and sandwiches reserved for the Holy Communion children and their families. There was also crisps, juice, coffee and tea available. Everything was prepared by the 1st class parents and the Parent Association.

Thanks to all helped to make a wonderful day including Ms Gilligan and Christine, Fr Phil, Mrs Horgan and the school choir, the altar servers, all those who moved furniture on Friday, the  1st class parents and the Parent Association.

MEATH SCHOOLS TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2012

Our athletes delivered another fabulous performance at the Meath Championships in Claremont Stadium, Navan. It was a very exciting day for all involved and we came home proud but hoarse after a day cheering on our athletes. We had great success in many events. Jade Carey stormed home to a brilliant silver medal in the Girls' U10 100M. Hannah Keogh matched her previous personal best to grab silver in the Girls' U12 Long Jump and Karl Reddin narrowly missed a medal in the Boys U12 Long Jump coming 4th by mere centimetres. The day was rounded off nicely with an amazing performance by our girls 4x100m relay team who won gold with a fantastic performance. Well done to Gillian Murphy, Olivia Allen, Jennifer Warren and Ali Kearney!
