Mission Week. November 1st to 5th An article by Olivia Allen, 3rd class
In November 2010 St.Andrews had a visit from two missionaries who came to teach us about the meaning of God in our everyday lives. The missionaries, Alan and Catherine taught us through songs, dance, sign language and drama. They came every day for a week and we all really looked forward to seeing them as we had lots of fun learning in this way. Alan played the guitar and sang while Catherine did sign language. We learned lots of new songs and at the end of the week we performed the songs and some drama on the altar in the church for our families and the community. They also had a prayer meeting every morning for the parents in the school hall. It was such a fun week . Thank you to all who organised it especially Alan and Catherine!
Meath Schools' Cross Country Championships An article by Oisín Fay, 3rd class
This was the first year that St Andrew’s NS took part in the Meath schools' cross country competition. It was held in Bellewstown on November 23rd 2010 and there were competitors from schools all over Co. Meath. We all arrived at 11.30 am and the competition began at 12.00pm. The U11 boys and girls ran 800m and the U13 boys and girls ran 1200m. We all brought a couple of snacks with us to keep our energy up. We wore a yellow or white t-shirt and green shorts.
Even though the U11 girls team nearly missed the start of the race they still did very well. The U11 boys team ran second and also did very well. The star performance of the day came from Mark Nolan from 6th class who finished 4th overall in the U13 boys race. The U13 girls also ran very well. Both the U11 girls and boys teams and the U13 boys teams came third overall in the team competition.
Thanks to Ms. Ronan who organised our entry, and selected and trained the team beforehand. Thanks also to all the parents who came to support us on the day. We had a great day and look forward to entering again next year.
