Yellow/Orange Team win our closest EVER Sports Day!
In a year like no other we were unable to hold our Sports Day in its usual format so our Bubble Friendly version took place today! This in no way took away from the amazing team spirit that always comes through on Sports Day and it was brilliant to hear everyone cheering on their team mates in every event. There were a great many highlights - Tom in Junior Infants and Noah and Sophie in Senior Infants showed us how it's done by reciting from memory ALL FIFTEEN winners of the Euros since 1958! Freddie in 2nd class got the highest quiz result of the whole day getting only ONE QUESTION wrong. Orlagh in 4th class did 260 skips for her team when the average per child was around 30 and the sprint to the line in the 5th and 6th class relay was the most exciting we've ever seen with two of our top female athletes Ciara (5th) and Aisling (6th) battling it out in a stunning sprint finish! In the end it was Ms.McLarnon and the yellow/ orange team who won the day, beating the black team by a teeny tiny 9 points. We also raised lots of money for Down Syndrome Ireland with our GO FOR GOLD Ice Cream Day.

Catholic Schools Week 2021
Theme - ‘Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith and Resilience’.
Friday's Thought for the Day As Catholic Schools Week comes to a close, we are asked to think about our school as a Community of Hope. We are all children of God, called to live like Jesus asked us. This year we will continue to make this school a loving place where everyone feels safe, welcome and cared for. We live in the hope that Jesus has shown us the way to live and we can hope to create a future where all people can know God’s love. We can do this through our kind thoughts, kind words and kind actions. Lord, help us to live like you taught us to. Together we pray the prayer that Jesus taught us: Our Father... |
Prayer for Grandparents
As it is likely that grandparents may watch Mass being streamed on the internet during Catholic Schools Week, it would be appropriate to offer a prayer for all grandparents, cherishing their contribution to the lives of their grandchildren. Pope Benedict XVI offered this prayer for grandparents:
As it is likely that grandparents may watch Mass being streamed on the internet during Catholic Schools Week, it would be appropriate to offer a prayer for all grandparents, cherishing their contribution to the lives of their grandchildren. Pope Benedict XVI offered this prayer for grandparents:
Lord Jesus, you were born of the Virgin Mary,
the daughter of Saints Joachim and Anne. Look with love on grandparents the world over. Protect them! They are a source of enrichment for families, for the Church and for all of society. Support them! As they grow older, may they continue to be for their families strong pillars of gospel faith, guardian of noble domestic ideals, living treasuries of sound religious traditions. Make them teachers of wisdom and courage, that they may pass on to future generations the fruits of their mature human and spiritual experience. Amen |
Curragha Green Kilometre SchemeThe scheme invites communities to choose approximately a kilometre stretch of road/loop in their area. The group then commits to maintaining the chosen stretch over the course of the year.
Well done to our students Daisy, Liam and Rachel who helped out with the first Saturday morning clean up of Curragha. We would encourage families to join in the initiative in the coming weeks to help keep our community clean. The next clean will be on Saturday 13th of March at 10.30am. Group will meet at the church/school car park. |
