Grandparents' Day An article by Erinna Whelan 4th class
On Thursday the 2nd of February 2017, some of our grandparents came to mass and then came to our school afterwards. 3rd and 4th class prepared some questions to ask the grandparents about school so that we could compare what it was like then and what it’s like now. After mass, the grandparents came to our classroom and we got to ask them some questions. We soon figured out that the grandparents who went to school in the countryside all had the same answers but had different answers to the grandparents who went to school in the city. For example, the grandparents who went to school in the countryside didn’t have P.E. and uniforms but the grandparents who went to school in the city did. They all played similar games though, like tag, gaelic or conkers and they all had sandwiches and milk for lunch. Soon afterward all the grandparents went to the hall for tea and cake and we had a quick snack then followed them to the hall for some lovely songs and then an assembly . I really enjoyed grandparents day!

THE LEGEND OF SPUD MURPHY Class Novel - 1st and 2nd Class
The novel of Spud Murphy was funny, creative, extraordinary and I liked it very much. The main charactors were Mum, Will, Marty and Spud Murphy. Mum was funny and agrees with her husband a lot. Will is a character I haven't met before, he is lots of different things such as crazy, creative and sometimes hes a coward. Marty gets into lots of trouble at home, he has loads of brothers and he says if his brothers "stick an axe in his head" his brothers would get away with it. And finally Spud Murphy is the librarian. Everyone is scared of her and she has a spud gun under her desk which shoots potatoes at everyone that is bold. She is bossy, mean and hurtful. If someone steps off the kid's mat, you do not know what could happen next. It's a mystery! It was fun to read and I would recommend this book to people who like funny stuff.
