The Hallelujah Concert
A report by Ali Kearney
3rd class

A group of students from St Andrews went to the Hallelujah Concert on Saturday the 12th of December 2009. We travelled on the bus to get to the concert in the R.D.S. in Dublin. We had to practice the songs before the concert started. Soon after the practice the parents started to arrive and get their seats. When the music started we all got very excited and started singing. We were lucky because our seats were in the front and we could dance around. My favourite part was watching the dancers on the stage with their fancy clothes. My least favourite part was when we had to practice for hours. It was very nice of the Teachers to give up their Saturday to be with us.

The Christmas Concert
A report by Hannah Keogh
3rd class

On Friday 18th December St. Andrew’s N.S. staged it’s annual Christmas concert and it as a great success. Each class got an opportunity to demonstrate display the vast amount of talent at St. Andrew’s. The comperes for the show were sixth class students Brian Eiffe and James Gibney and they did a very good job. The boys firstly introduced Junior Infants with 6th class performing a dance routine, followed by Junior and Senior Infants reciting some poems. Next on the stage was the recorder group who played a medley of Christmas songs. The Christmas music continued to fill the air when the guitar group took to the stage to accompany myself and Ciara Keogh when we sang Jingle Bells, Away in a Manger and Silent Night. The Hallelujah concert group then performed some songs from the recent show in the RDS. Next up was 3rd and 4th class who entertained the crowd with a super dance routine. The 5th class girls performed a fantastic dance routine to Cheryl Cole’s no.1 hit ‘Fight for this love’ Finally the Nativity play was acted out by 1st  and 2nd class. Joseph and Mary were played by Sara Healy and Neil Joyce. The students of Curragha owe a big thank you to all the teachers in the school and to Mr. Holt the recorder teacher and Aedin the dancing teacher for helping to prepare the show.

The Christmas Fair
A report by Zain Ennos
4th class

Our school holds a fair every Christmas. It is a fund raiser for the school. There are lots of different stalls. There is a tombola for girls, boys and adults, a cake stall, a toy stall, a book stall, and a stall with Christmas plants and candles. There is also a cafe for tea, coffee and biscuits. Of course, Christmas wouldn’t be the same without Santa.Of course all the kids would love to go to see Santa and he would give you a surprise but he won’t give the same to everybody so you say if you are a boy or a girl and give your age. You might get a DVD or a toy. My favourite stall is the boys tombola and your boy will love it too! My sister’s favourite is the girl’s tombola. The adults can win hampers. You will need to bring about €10.00. It is €5.00 to see Santa. It is good because everbody can have a great time. It is enjoyable for all ages. I like it because you can meet up with all your friends and it is a good thing to have in the community because it brings us together.

Ms.Carragher's last day
A report by Angela Kent
4th class

Miss Angela Carragher, a superb teacher left Curragha on 18th of December. We hope to see her now and again. When she started teaching in St Andrew's she loved it.She loved art and loved the pupils. She was here approximately 6 years. On the 18th she left with lots of presents and poems from the pupils. On the 19th she came back and helped the kids with a concert and afterwards she went away. She taught junior infants and senior infants and she taught 3rd and 4th.She was a member of the Board of Management. She had a lovely smile and she was very kind and patient when things went wrong. She was very encouraging and because of that,we all worked very hard.I could always admire her make up and clothes and she had a kind heart. She was a good teacher because she knew what she was doing and she made work easy for us.
