Our School Library Council have put in hours of work to turn our rather dull upstairs classroom into a bright, appealing and colourful space for our new school library.

Junior Infants 2018
An article by Lara Parsons
5th Class

Picture
This year we welcome the new Junior Infants to St. Andrew's N.S. Curragha. Some of their names are Robyn, Avril, Lillian, Juliette, James, Finn and Roisin. There is also a set of twins in Junior Infants and their names are Kate and Emma. We also have children who are the first in their family to come to this school like Maggie Jane, Donagh, Georgiana, Diemantas and Odhran. Some children have cousins or siblings in the school. Those children are Finn who has a sister called Ella Rose, there is James, and he has two sisters named Emma and Aisling. Kate and Emma have a sister called Maria, Juliette has a sister called Lauren, Lillian has a sister called Rachel, Avril has two sisters called Ellen and Claire, Robyn has a brother called Conor and Roisin has a sister named Ailbhe. We also have cousins in the school - Odhran is a cousin to Grace and Conor in 5th and 6th. St. Andrew's N.S. could not be happier - we have a great new class of Junior Infants

Food Dudes
An article by Gina Ronan
3rd Class

We have been doing the Food Dudes programme in school. It is great fun. We tasted green beans, bananas, oranges, peppers, grapes, carrots, cucumbers (which taste like water). We got prizes for trying them. There were bottles, pedometers, pencil cases and a ruler. It was nice to try new food but I won't be eating peppers again!!

Brother Cross Country

3rd Class

On the 10th of October pupils from 3rd to 6th class took part in the Brother Cross Country in Santry Demense.  5th Class girls ran first which included Curragha pupils from 3rd, 4th and 5th Classes.  Then it was the 5th class boys including 3rd, 4th and 5th.  After that it was 6th Class girls turn followed by 6th Class boys.  It was a gorgeous autumn day for athletics, after lots of training for the past few weeks with Ms Ronan, everyone performed to their best.
Our school had no team placements, however, Niamh Murphy achieved a 3rd Place to receive a trophy.  We are very proud of her.  Christopher Conlan placed 4th just pipped at the post for a 3rd place.  Everyone else that participated received a Brother Cross Country T-shirt and lots of encouragement from their school friends and supporters.
We travelled by bus and had a great day cheering each other on and everyone finished. It was a great day, with lots of fun, sweat and learning for our next Athletics outings.  Well done to everyone!!

Meath Book Festival
An article by Grace Cassidy
4th Class

Picture
On Monday 15th October 2018 4th,5th & 6th Class were invited to visit Ashbourne Library to celebrate book month. We travelled by bus and when we arrived we were greeted by two very friendly library staff. They told us to split into groups of four, these would be our quiz teams. When we sat down at our table there was a raffle ticket at our seat. We were asked to choose a captain for our team and this person would write down the answers. The quiz got started and we were asked to unscramble the names of some movies we were given clues to help. We were asked to match pictures of authors with their names, we were also shown half a book cover and we had to name the book. There was also a round on comics and we were asked about the super heroes in these. After lots of fun we had several raffles, which included spooky Halloween prizes. My team did not win the quiz but we had lots of fun. We travelled back to school on the bus and everyone had a great day
