Our Active Committee are encouraging healthy eating in 2024 by asking all classes to participate in the Food Dudes programme. Food Dudes is Ireland's national healthy eating programme for primary schools. It works by positively changing children's attitudes towards eating fresh fruit and vegetables. This is achieved by combining three key elements - repeated tasting, rewards and role modelling - on a recurring 4-year cycle. The Food Dudes programme will run in junior Infants, Senior Infants, First & Second Class from January 12th - February 2nd, and in Third & 4th Class and Fifth & Sixth Class from January 29th - February 2nd.
Fyffes Fit Squad
Fyffes Fit Squad visited our school today as part of their hunt to find Ireland’s Fittest School 2024! They provided a workout for Junior & Senior Infants and 1st & 2nd Class. After 30 minutes of exercise each child was given a nutritious banana and Fyffes sports bag. It was a great experience and we hope to welcome the Fyffes Fit Squad back to our school again.

An Mhí Abú!
There was great excitement today in school as Meath Ladies - the current All Ireland Champions brought the Brendan Martin Cup to visit Curragha! Bainisteoir Eamonn and players Katie, Emma and Aoibhinn were so kind to us - answering all of our questions, letting us hold the cup and signing our jerseys!

Wellness Framework
We worked alongside our Amber Committee to create a ‘Calm Cove’ for all pupils. In the Calm Cove we can engage in a variety of relaxing activities such as building fine motor and gross motor skills, listening to music, reading a book and swinging in the hammock. We are looking forward to chilling out in our Calm Cove.

Equine Champions Visit St. Andrew's N.S.
Local trainer Dermot McLoughlin brought his Grand National winning horses Lord Lariat & Free Wheelin' Dylan to our school on Monday. Champion jockeys Paddy O'Hanlon and Ricky Doyle also joined us for the morning. Dermot is a past pupil of St. Andrew's and his children Ella-Rose & Finn attend our school. We got to chat with Dermot and the jockeys about their success, as well as meeting the beautiful horses up close. It was such an exciting and special morning. We will remember it for a long time to come.

Leinster Schools' Cross Country
Well done to all of our athletes who did our school proud today. There were tough races in all categories with over 150 runners per race. Special congratulations to Emily Keogh (9th place), Aoibhinn Shevlin (15th place), Juliette Heather (15th place) and Anna May Keogh (18th place) - for a small school like ours finishing in the top twenty athletes is no small feat! The greatest success of the whole day however was our amazing team spirit and the way we supported each other! Well done to everyone! We are very proud of you all!!!
